Palesa Malatji, 17, was attacked and killed while walking home from school in Soshanguve, Gauteng, on 25 May 2023. She allegedly left school in the afternoon after attending extra classes. When she did not arrive home, her family started looking for her. Her body was found next to Echibini secondary school in Soshanguve, and evidence suggested Palesa had been raped.
